Market Wizards - Book Review

Welcome to another trading book review. In this post, I will review Jack D. Schwager's famous trading publication, Market Wizards: Interviews with Top Traders. Jack D. Schwager is a well-known author, fund manager and trading industry expert. Market Wizards: Interviews with Top Traders is by far Jack's most famous publication, but he does have other trading publications, such as; Getting Started in Technical Analysis, Hedge Fund Market Wizards, Futures: Fundamental Analysis & Managed Futures: Myths & Truths.

Below is my review of Market Wizards...

I have read many trading books over the last decade. Most of these have been very well-written and very beneficial to those seeking to make money from trading financial markets. Some publications haven't been as good. Market Wizards: Interviews with Top Traders is one of the best trading books available. The book is a compilation of interviews with some of the most successful traders in history. The trading insights that the interviews provide are invaluable - the book is well-worth studying.

Below are some of the things that I like about Market Wizards...

- The book offers great diversity. There are interviews with younger traders and older traders. There are interviews with traders that focus on fundamentals and there are interviews with traders that just trade using technical analysis. There are interviews with traders that specialise in currency trading (Forex), traders that specialise in stock trading, traders that specialise in trading Futures and traders that trade other financial products. I love this about Market Wizards. The book is literally for every kind of trader.

- The traders that are interviewed, really know their stuff. Jack D. Schwager really picked some of the best in the industry for his trading publication. Some of the traders that Jack has conversations with include Richard Dennis, Paul Tudor Jones, Ed Seykota, Marty Schwartz and Dr Van K. Tharp.

- The book is split into segments. This makes the book a great read. You can read one interview/conversation a time, it's easy to put down and return to later, and there is very little trading jargon.

- The book is a bargain. Let's face it, most trading publications are over-priced and expensive. Market Wizards is actually one of the cheaper trading books available. Due to it's age, you can also purchase the book at very cheaply as second-hand.

Below is my only dislike about Market Wizards...

- It would have been nice to include some chart illustrations of trades that traders speak about or even include a photo of each of the traders interviewed. I don't mind "just" words but I do think books appeal to a larger audience and can be more entertaining if they contain pictures.

Final Words...

I highly suggest reading Market Wizards: Interviews with Top Traders. You can purchase the book here. If you are in the US, use this link.
